ADHD symptoms in adults - How to recognize them?

Many people still primarily associate ADHD with a disorder that mainly affects children and adolescents. Only gradually is research beginning to recognize that adults can also be affected, often without even knowing the source of their difficulties. This is because the signs of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD) manifest differently in adulthood than in childhood. Typical symptoms include problems with attention, pronounced impulsivity, inner restlessness, and resulting stress in both professional and personal life. Rapid mood swings are also common. Many adults with ADHD easily lose track of things, procrastinate, and experience a feeling of inner chaos, as if they are constantly on edge. Rapid boredom and a need for continuous stimulation are also among the frequent complaints.
