How is ADHD treated in adults?
The need for ADHD treatment in adults depends on the individual's level of distress. Generally speaking, however, adequate treatment enables those affected to live well with ADHD. The main goal of therapy is to alleviate symptoms and reduce problems in daily life, organization, or interpersonal relationships. If other mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety disorders are also present, these are also treated in my psychiatric practice. Current guidelines for the treatment of ADHD in adults generally recommend the use of specific medications. I proceed with medication therapy carefully and prescribe only the necessary dose to reduce the patient's distress. I place particular emphasis on comprehensive education and regular medical monitoring.
